Poker Affiliates

Income of a poker affiliate

One of the most popular card games that are known as a challenge and a thought provoking game is poker. Thousands of web pages are dedicated to the fascinating game of poker. You will be surprised to see the increasing number of poker rooms on the internet. Online poker rooms have players all over the world that play and carve a niche for themselves.

A poker affiliate introduces new members to poker rooms that increase the traffic and popularity of the rooms. Online poker rooms are always hungry for new members as it is one of the best unique ways of making money by the rake. During the tournament season more members join poker rooms and thus poker rooms earn a lump sum in this manner.

The topic of discussion is the earnings of a poker affiliate. Diverse poker rooms have different means of earnings for a poker affiliate. One of the most common methods is called CPA that refers to the phrase cost per affiliation. Many frauds have happened in the past that has caused losses to poker rooms as new players that were introduced by poker affiliates. Why would a poker room pay a poker affiliate a lump sum if the player is not active and definite amount of rake has not been generated that meet the needs of the poker room.

Another method of earning is called MGR or revenue sharing. A poker affiliate gets a fixed percentage of the rake that is generated by all the new players introduced by an affiliate to the online poker room. This is a very lucrative means of earning money, as a percentage of the rake generated by each player will be deposited in your account.

A poker affiliate is spoilt for choice to earn credits either by CPA or MGR. Which is a better and steady means of earning money every month? Both plans have positive and negative points and CPA method looks very lucrative as you get a fixed percentage of money for introducing new players. However, most poker affiliates opt for MGR method, as it is a steady and a better means of earning more money.

The CPA method is very lucrative for poker rooms. The new players introduced by you should be active and the amounts earned by them are paltry then you may bid goodbye to $100 per referral as the manager can cancel the credits earned by you, as the poker room is not benefiting from the addition of these new players. A poker affiliate should know that CPA will never be a lucrative deal and you cannot earn more than the worth of the players that are introduced to the poker room.

The number of poker affiliates is rising as many new poker rooms are being introduced and the already existing ones consolidate their premium hold in by adding new members that will generate more business for the poker room. MGR will take a few months to consolidate and then it will give you fruitful returns.

Partik Antonius the HOT Shark

Do not let the good looks and the friendly personality fool you, Patrik Antonius is a powerful force at any poker table. Nicknamed the “Brand Pitt of Poker,” this former tennis standout has changed his ambitions of playing professional tennis for the more lucrative confines of the poker room. Antonius stated playing serious poker at the age of 24 when he entered a large amount of European Poker Tour events. His high skill level was quite obvious right away as he earned over $1.7 million dollars in a variety of high stakes poker events. He was even granted the prestigious title of European Poker Tour rookie of the year in 2005.

Never mind the fact that Antonius has banked approximately $10 million is his short career thus far, because the most impressive characteristic of this talented card shark is his ability to play for massive amounts of money without showing the slightest hint of emotion. In the hit TV series High Stakes Poker, Patrik lost the biggest single pot ever shown on television, $743,800 to the former world champion Jamie Gold. Amazingly, Antonius was more than a 3 to 1 favorite when the bulk of the money was shoved into the pot and although he came out on the short end of the stick, his demeanor remained unchanged.

The best poker players in the world need to have a short memory and must display an uncanny ability to bounce back, even after taking the hardest beats possible. This is why Patrik Antonius can call himself one of the greatest in the world. Despite losing the massive single pot to Jamie Gold, the good looking shark came back with avenges. He continued to battle in the richest cash games both online and live until he gained remittance for his unfortunate loss. That is because Patrik Antonius has the impressive line in his resume that states he has raked in the single largest hand to ever be recorded on an internet poker site. That pot was worth nearly $1.4 million dollars and he set the unprecedented feat in 2009.

This give Mr. Antonius the distinct characteristic of winning the biggest pot ever seen at an internet poker table and also the tarnish on his reputation for losing the single largest pot ever shown on television. The swings of no limit Texas Hold’em are about the only thing that is guaranteed in the game of poker and Patrik Antonius is living proof of that. It is quite obvious that he will remain undeterred by the loses and exasperated by the victories to be an omnipresent force in any high stakes poker game.

ETP Robbed

European Poker Tour Robbed for Almost 1 M EUR at Gunpoint

On March 6th, 2010, under the stunned gaze of the participants the European Poker Tour was robbed by six armed men at approximately 2 PM. There are contradictory reports regarding the weapons the men were carrying, whether they had guns or knives.

Footage from the robbery shows participants diving for cover and general chaos. The footage is available on youtube.com or below. However, the robbers cannot be seen clearly, thus the police and organizers of the EPT Berlin are requesting that anyone with information, footage or photographs step forward.

The thieves made off with approximately 800,000 EUR but luckily no one was injured. It appears that the money for the main event prize was secured in the casino safe, but all the money from the high roller event was on the casino floor. However, there are some reports that security guards managed to recover all or part of the money from the perpetrators yet this is still unconfirmed.

There have also been reports that the men threatened to let off a bomb or to launch hand grenades, but the information is still unclear regarding which of the two. There are photos showing a security guard holding one of the perpetrators in a choke-hold which seems to confirm reports that some of the money was recovered.

Organizers had hoped to resume at 4 PM but eventually the 1,000 EURO event was canceled while the main event began at 6 PM. Participants in the 1,000 Euro and ladies side events were given the option of a refund. The 1,000 Euro event will not be resumed while no announcements have been made regarding the ladies event.

PokerStars made an official statement regarding the occurrence stating that no one was seriously injured but that a police investigation was underway.
